Kären Wigen, Professor of History and Director of the Center for East Asian Studies at Stanford University will visit the Triangle on March 18th, 2011, at the invitation of Duke’s Asian/Pacific Studies Institute.
At noon on March 18th, Kären will participate in a workshop on her recent book, A Malleable Map: Geographies of Restoration in Central Japan, 1600-1912. The event will be held in New East 102 at UNC.
At 4 p.m. on the same day, Kären will give a lecture titled “Geographies of Restoration: The Curious Career of an Ancient Province in Early Modern Japan,” in the Boyd Seminar Room (229 Carr Building), Duke East Campus.
