All are invited to a reception this Saturday, December 10, from 4 to 6 pm at the NC Japan Center to see a combined show of pottery by Takuro and Hitomi Shibata, and shibori by Susan Fennell. The reception and exhibition are free and open to the public. The artists will be giving gallery talks during the reception, and the exhibition runs through February.
Hitomi and Takuro initiated their pottery exploration and production in Japan and later relocated to Seagrove, NC, where they have had a studio since 2008. Susan lived in Japan with her family as a young girl, has taught Japanese language at high school here in Raleigh, and more recently is working with Raleigh Denim by utilizing her skills with indigo.
